Women's sports sponsorship deals are up 20% in 2022

Women have always faced disparities in the sports industry. Men sell more tickets. Men get more airtime. Men make more money. But the tide is changing.

In 2022, 3,500 brands bought 5,650 sponsorships across women's pro leagues & collegiate NIL athletes. 1,110 brands bought 2,185 sponsorships of individual female athletes.

Some Trends:

  • Alex Morgan is the most endorsed female athlete of the year. The soccer star scored 27 brand deals in 2022 — more than any NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS or NHL athlete.

  • Nike is the No. 1 sponsor for both professional and collegiate sports. In addition to its partnerships with 68 colleges, this corporate giant also sponsors more than 65 individual female athletes.

  • Golf outnumbers all other women’s sports for brand deals. With 940 brand deals in 2022, the LPGA saw a 30 percent increase in deals from the previous year.
